Abigail Selby
Abigail Selby performs on lever, pedal, and electric harp, as well as sings with harp accompaniment. She is well-versed in Celtic, Classical, popular, and original music. Abigail as well is a singer-songwriter, composer, and recording artist. During her concerts or performances, you can expect a wide-range of original and popular music of all decades. Abigail is also regularly booked for weddings, parties, or any event that harp would compliment.
Abigail has lived in the DC metropolitan area since 1999, and has much experience performing in many of the east coast states, such as Maryland, Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, to name a few. Abigail has performed Classical harp at esteemed venues such as the Kennedy Center, Black Rock Performing Arts Center & Strathmore Mansion. She has performed original music at venues such as Blue's Alley, The Birchmere & Atlas Performing Arts Center. Abigail performed at the Maryland Renaissance Festival for over 15 years as a musician in various projects and performance groups. She as well has provided music for special events at many locations and venues in the DC metropolitan area.
Abigail began playing Celtic harp in 1999 and recorded her first original composition at age fourteen. Abigail received several first place awards at various Celtic harp competitions in her teenage years. At age seventeen, Abigail received third place in the advanced level harp competition in the Scottish Mod in Edinburgh. She also received an award for out-standing achievement upon graduating with a degree in Classical harp performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. Abigail has performed with groups such as Krishna Das, National String Symphonia, Maggie Sansone, Fractal Cat & Trio Galilei. She has had the honor of being in many musical groups, Celtic, Classical and original, throughout the years. In 2012, Abigail recorded and produced her first full length album of original music called Sow Hope, which features her on electric and acoustic harp, vocals, percussion, and piano. She has created 3 recordings with drummer and percussionist Eric Selby since 2015 of all original music called Shedding Shadows, self-titled EP, and Gypsy Second.
